Exploring the Mountaintops of the Giants in Elden Ring reveals some of the most challenging optional dungeons in the Lands Between. Among these late-game locations, the Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave stands out for its unique puzzle mechanics and valuable legendary loot. Navigating its treacherous corridors requires a clear strategy to defeat shadow-covered enemies and claim its rich rewards.
How to Reach the Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave
The dungeon is located high atop a cliff in the western section of the Mountaintops of the Giants. Although visible early on, reaching it requires a wide detour through the eastern regions. Players must trek past the Freezing Lake, head southwest toward the Guardians' Garrison, and cross the massive chain bridge to reach the Giants' Gravepost.
From the Giants' Gravepost Site of Grace, travel southwest while skirting the cliff edges and dodging aggressive Fingercreepers. Near the end of the path, jump across a narrow gap between the mountain peaks to arrive at the plateau. Entering the structure and taking the elevator down will unlock the main Site of Grace inside.
Navigating the Shadow Seals and Puzzles
Inside the grave, many formidable foes such as Lesser Burial Watchdogs and Fire Prelates appear in an invulnerable, darkened state. To make them susceptible to damage, players must lure these shadowy enemies into glowing light seals on the floor. Positioning is key, as fighting them outside the light remains nearly impossible.
Drop-down alcoves and moving elevator shafts hide several secret rooms containing valuable items. By cleverly manipulating the central lift, players can access the lower basement levels guarded by a Fire Prelate and additional watchdogs. Clearing these chambers rewards vigilant explorers with the Giant's Seal, Great Grave Glovewort, and the Cranial Vessel Candlestand.
Opening the Boss Door and Defeating the Boss
To open the heavy doors leading to the dungeon's final arena, players must defeat the shadowy Troll residing on the main level. Lure the giant creature into the nearby light seal to remove its immunity. Once the Troll falls, the massive doors at the end of the corridor will automatically unlock.
Beyond the doors lies the Ancient Hero of Zamor, a swift boss utilizing frostbite attacks and agile sweeps. Maintaining distance and counterattacking after its icy breath attacks makes the fight much manageable. Defeating this ancient warrior yields 83,000 Runes, the complete Zamor Armor Set, and the Zamor Curved Sword.
