The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild features numerous environmental riddles that test a player's observation and problem-solving skills. One particularly memorable challenge is the Master of the Wind shrine quest, which requires players to manipulate air currents to reveal a hidden sanctuary. Completing this objective grants access to the Shai Yota Shrine and rewards Link with valuable treasure.

Finding the Master of the Wind Quest Location

To initiate this shrine quest, players must head toward the Lanayru region in eastern Hyrule. The quest itself is located in Horon Lagoon, positioned just east of the Lanayru Promenade and south of the Lanayru Sea. Upon entering the lagoon, listen for the melodic sounds of an accordion played by Kass, the travelling Rito bard.

Kass can be found standing atop a prominent stone pillar in the northern sector of the lagoon. Speaking with him prompts a classic riddle that hints at breaking rock formations to channel the wind toward a glowing Sheikah pedestal.

Clearing the Obstacles to Restore Wind Flow

The primary task of this challenge involves shattering three specific rock piles that block natural wind currents flowing through the area. Players can destroy these obstacles using remote bombs, bomb arrows, or well-placed heavy weapons. Navigating between the rock formations can easily be done by gliding along existing updrafts or using the Cryonis rune to create ice stepping stones across the water.

The first set of rocks rests along the outer rock wall, while the second pile is situated near the center of the lagoon. The final rock formation is suspended high inside a small archway, making a remote bomb or a ranged shot with a bomb arrow ideal for clearing it quickly. Once all three barriers are destroyed, a short cinematic sequence will confirm that the full gust of wind is flowing toward the pedestal.

Activating the Shai Yota Shrine Pedestal

With all wind obstructions cleared, players must use the continuous air currents to reach the activated Sheikah platform. Climb to a high vantage point near the newly created updraft, jump off, and deploy the Paraglider. Ride the wind directly toward the orange glowing altar in the center of the bay.

It is crucial to maintain your glided descent and land directly onto the platform while the Paraglider remains fully deployed. Touching down on foot first or dropping from above without gliding will not trigger the mechanism. A successful landing activates the altar and causes the hidden Shai Yota Shrine to rise from the water.

Claiming the Rewards Inside Shai Yota Shrine

Because the main puzzle of this shrine is solved during the overworld quest, the interior functions as a Rauru's Blessing type shrine. Players are not required to complete any further combat encounters or environmental puzzles inside the structure. Simply step forward to claim the treasure chest positioned along the main pathway.

Inside the chest, Link will find a powerful Great Flameblade, an excellent elemental weapon for combat and survival in cold climates. Afterward, approach the monk Shai Yota at the altar to receive a Spirit Orb, completing the quest in full.
