If you prefer to skip wild encounters, you can also look for Applin as static spawns near orchard areas. Having a Grass or Dragon-type sandwich active will greatly increase your chances of finding one quickly. Once caught, keep Applin in your active party or PC box until you are ready to proceed.
Obtaining the Syrupy Apple Evolution Item
Unlike previous evolutions that required Tart or Sweet Apples, Dipplin requires a completely new item called the Syrupy Apple. This item cannot be purchased in standard Delibird Presents shops found across Paldea. Instead, trainers must travel to the southeastern corner of the Kitakami map to a region known as Mossfell Confluence.
In this peaceful rural area, you will find an unstaffed shed stall set up next to an apple orchard. Interacting with the self-service box allows you to purchase Syrupy Apples for 500 Pokedollars each. You can buy multiple apples if you plan on evolving several Applin for your team or trading with friends.
Evolving Applin Into Dipplin
Once you have acquired a Syrupy Apple, open your main item bag and navigate to the "Other Items" tab. Select the Syrupy Apple and choose to use it on the Applin in your party. The evolution process will trigger immediately without needing to raise Applin's level or increase its friendship.
After the animation completes, your Applin will officially transform into Dipplin, gaining the unique Candy Apple aesthetic. Dipplin retains the Grass/Dragon typing while gaining access to its signature move, Syrup Bomb, and the exclusive Ability Supersweet Syrup. These distinctive traits make Dipplin a strategic asset in double battles and competitive lineups.
Unlocking Further Evolutionary Potential
Dipplin is not just a standalone evolution, as it serves as an intermediate form within this expanding creature family. By teaching Dipplin the move Dragon Cheer and raising its level, trainers can later trigger another powerful evolution into Hydrapple. This multi-headed hydra-like form represents the culmination of Applin's evolutionary branch in later DLC chapters.
